Never has the Swiss musical scene boasted such health and vigour!
A host of clubs among the most vivid of the old continent (in spite
of the limited scale of their market and the boulimia of summer festivals)
and, above all, a groving number of daring new groups have transformed this
rocky patch in the middle of Europe into a land of abundance.
The MARLBORO NEW TALENTS operates as an energizer, providing this multitude
of new groups with a launching pad. From the early 90's the groups such as
THE FAILURES, LOVEBUGS and more recently GRAND MOTHER'S FUNCK, LAUGH or CORE
have been able to find their places in the Helvetic sun. In 1996 not less than
600 groups have tried their luck. Open to all musical styles and supported by
the totality of the Swiss music businness - record companies, festivals, clubs,
journalists, promoters, agents, etc. - the New Talents is a great lighting spot
for the groups who are often talented if generally unknown.
